Hospitality and Reception

In today's world, where authentic experiences are increasingly valued, hospitality and friendliness play a central role in traveler satisfaction. In my last column, I explored the importance of inclusion and accessibility in our tourism industry. Now, I want to talk about the art of hospitality and its influence on a destination's image, and how this same art can—and should—be extended to everyone, always.

Who doesn't remember exceptionally friendly service on a trip? That genuine smile, that valuable tip, or the kindness that made all the difference? These experiences, filled with human warmth, stick in our memories and transform our perception of the place we visited. They are shared among friends, family, and on social media, contributing to the destination's positive image.

We've all witnessed or heard stories of such moments. The impact of these experiences goes beyond the immediately visible. They cross borders, permeate hearts, establish connections, and encourage new journeys. They represent the beating and captivating human heart, transforming a place of visit into a place of desire, a place to feel truly welcomed. Tourist attractions are integrated into this network of warm welcomes and sincere smiles. They are the bastions of this hospitality. Therefore, it is essential that everyone is received with the same courtesy, respect, and affection.

So why not extend this same warm and genuine welcome to the LGBTI+ community? Why not allow them to also experience the joy of being welcomed, of feeling at home away from home? Isn't this the true spirit of hospitality? We need to challenge stereotypes, break down barriers, and ensure that everyone, including the LGBTI+ community, is welcome. An inclusive approach not only enriches our cultural diversity but also contributes to a positive and attractive image of our businesses and destinations.

We must embrace diversity, welcome everyone with a smile, offer quality service, and treat each person with the dignity and respect they deserve. This will contribute to a richer and more effective tourism sector, where everyone feels welcome and appreciated.

In short, inclusion and genuine welcome are a powerful way to transform tourism experiences and enrich our cultural diversity. Let's ensure that São Paulo is remembered not only for its natural beauty and tourist attractions, but also for its warm and inclusive hospitality. São Paulo is for everyone. Let's make it known and remembered for that.
