Credit as a Driver of Tourism Investment

The importance of tourism as a driver of development depends on effective planning and management actions, and especially on these actions being integrated between the public and private sectors.

To understand the driving force of credit in the economic and productive ecosystem of the tourism sector, we need to understand that tourism investments need to occur in an integrated way between these sectors; that is, direct public investment in tourism infrastructure, sanitation, security, access, and mobility will attract and guarantee private investments.

On one hand, the public sector generates flow and increased demand through public policies, and on the other hand, this increased demand attracts private investment in the provision of services, generating more jobs, more income, more inclusion and, consequently, more revenue for the municipality and the state.

In this integrated process, credit is a major driver for accelerating these investments. We are talking about a qualified credit policy geared towards productive tourism investment, generating jobs and income, and guaranteeing economic development in tourist regions.

In the State of São Paulo, we can observe that the Government, through public policies to encourage credit and strategies to attract and capture tourism investments, has structured the CrediturSP Program, which will be officially launched soon, but is already available to the entire tourism industry and tourist municipalities.

CrediturSP aims to support and guide the productive ecosystem of tourism in São Paulo, facilitating access to national and international credit lines and financing resources. This is geared towards the sustainable execution of tourism structuring projects, improving infrastructure and tourism services, guaranteeing economic and social development, and generating more jobs and income for the State of São Paulo. It also aims to strengthen innovative mechanisms and models for qualified credit, fostering the productive and sustainable development of tourism in São Paulo.

Within these premises, entrepreneurs and public managers can access various partnerships with financial institutions, with innovation and agility through credit fintechs, with a scope that covers the entire tourism production chain, through public banks and credit cooperatives, in addition to guided credit with Sebrae-SP and guided investments through InvestSP.

Business owners and public managers can access this information through the website of the São Paulo State Secretariat of Tourism and Travel, in the Credit and Investment Hub.

In upcoming discussions, we will provide details about the types of credit available and how to access the different credit and financing options available.
